Twenty – One Church Planting Designs/Models for the Twenty-First Century

The new century that we minister in requires a passion and courage of apostolic style and individuals courageous enough to reach out to a lost and dying world. Church planting must be a chief focus of evangelism and mission thrust in this day. In order for the church to continue, there needs to be an awakening in order that it can continue to thrive. Often that means that what we did to start churches in the twentieth century might not work in the twenty-first century. Our prayer is that God will raise up a generation of missional people like the apostle Paul who will preach Christ and plant evangelical healthy churches across North America. Far too many church plants fail because their leaders follow a model that may have worked elsewhere instead of seeking God’s face about the unique model required for that particular area. This PowerPoint presentation is designed to help sponsor churches and church planters to explore possible design strategies as they seek to start churches in their context.

Tom - thanks for sharing this presentation. Had just a few questions to prompt discussion and would really dig your thoughts:

1. does the New Testament call us to even "plant" a church?
2. is the church an "it" or a "he" and "she"
3. have you seen these models and designs actually reap "on earth as it is in heaven" in a community?

Love you bro. Just throwing those out there to start some fun discussion :-)

Great questions...

#1. Yes - If we understand the church as "The Kingdom of God". Jesus loved to use agricultural analogies to represent His Kingdom. Example: Mark 4:26-29
#2. She - The Church is often referred to as the "body" and "bride" of Christ. Church is a Who.
#3. Many of them - Our vision is to see Revelation 7:9ff happening here and around the world:

"I looked again. I saw a huge crowd, too huge to count. Everyone was there—all nations and tribes, all races and languages. And they were standing, dressed in white robes and waving palm branches, standing before the Throne and the Lamb and heartily singing:

Salvation to our God on his Throne!
Salvation to the Lamb!"
